Katherine (Katie) Arendt, M.D., is professor of Anesthesiology, division chair and the associate practice chair for the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Dr. Arendt completed residency in Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic, an obstetric anesthesiology fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a regional anesthesiology fellowship at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Arendt initiated and is the program director of the American College of Graduate Medical Education-accredited Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic. She is an American Board of Anesthesiology oral board examiner and has served on the board of directors for the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology. Her research interests include the obstetric anesthesia management of patients with complex cardiac disease, a topic on which Dr. Arendt has published over 60 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Arendt is invited to speak across the world and inspires safer and more satisfying childbirth experiences.
Dr. Arendt serves as the physician lead of the Bold. Forward. Unbound. in Rochester portfolio, partnering with Dr. Craig Daniels and Bridget Avikainen. In this role, Dr. Arendt sits at the center of Mayo Clinic’s practice-led transformation in Rochester, ensuring the voices of Mayo Clinic staff and patients drive and are reflected in the future of healthcare.
